Pree Release

Quite possibly the most anticipated Sympathy release of 1997 is Punk Girls, a certified instant classic by Englands gutter darlings, THEE HEADCOATEES.

Recorded at the infamous Toe Rag studio (Where else?) in november 96 Punk Girls is THEE HEADCOATEES first US LP in nearly five years and it's an exclusive release for Sympapathy for the Record Industry. There are12 tracks on this scorching slab and inculded are a equal mix of origanals and covers of vintage 77-style punk-rock nuggets.

On the original front you get the wickedly inspired title track "Punk Girls" and so no one feels left out they've recorded a track called "Punk Boys" to even up the score. Other origanals include "Zig Zag" "You're Right, Im Wrong" and a suspiciously familiar blast titled "I Don't Want to Hold Your Hand" The covers Thee Headcoatees have embraced included a striped-down version of THE UNDERTONES "Tennage Kicks" THE LURKERS "Shadows THE RAMONES "Pinhead" and a very impressive take on PLASTIC BERTRANDS eternally brillant "La Plane Pour Moi".

THEE HEADCOATEES possess a rare talent and serve up wild raw and unparallelled rock'n'roll that everyone from THE MUFFS to THE TRASHWOMEN aspire to; and they continue to be the massive inspiration for young girls worlwide to pick up guitars and attitudes and attempt to assault the complacent airwaves. Do yourself a favor, pick up Punk Girls, nose dive into its brilliance and then keep an eye out for Kyra, Holly, Debbie and Ludella (collectively known as THEE HEADCOATEES) as they hope to tour the US later this year.
